About me:
Sam Lans! is 'flying on another level' following in the footsteps of his successful predecessors such as RZA, Kanye West, Timbaland, Swizz Beats, and Pharrell Williams, serving as both producer and artist on his debut LP, True Romance (2010).
Having been dubbed the 'Quentin Tarantino of Hip Hop' by insiders of his camp, Lans! takes his listeners on a gritty, dark, and comedic ride with his dry melodic lyrical flow and soul electronica drum beats will have listeners traveling to an alternate universe.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Lans! found his calling while attending Clark Atlanta University. Influenced by his cousin and fellow artist, Lucci Loner (Lucci Lo) and producer Charlee Chan, Lans! began trying his hand at making beats never really putting much thought into it as a career option. "I was just playing around and I kept getting better and better," says Lans!.
Having left college, he hung around the Atlanta music scene for a while absorbing all the information that he could before returning back up north. "I love my city, but Philly doesn't open its arms up like they do in the South. I knew coming back home would make my situation harder." But the hard work is starting to pay off in major ways.
As a producer, he has worked with Bad Boy recording artist, E. Ness, as well as Philadelphia legends Sandman, ICAN , Classic, and Ab liva to name a few. On top of producing tracks for Lucci Loner's upcoming release, Lans! is preparing to drop his first mixtape "Thank You For Smoking"
Lans! describes his debut effort as "a musical forecast into the year 2012." And that it is. "I didn't want to produce and write an album that blended in with the artists you hear on the radio. There needs to be a balance," says Lans!, who has gone the extra step in creating an online record label to distribute and promote his own music.
Untamed Digital will release albums, songs, and instrumentals via iTunes and other types of online distribution in the future. The offical "Thank You for Smoking" mixtape will be released on April 4th 2010. True Romance will be released this Fall.
