TANGERINE DREAM

ERIK WOLLO

THE COAST OF HIGH BARBAREE
There were two lofty ships from old England came, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; One was the Prince of Luther, and the other Prince of Wales, Cruising down along the coast of the High Barbaree.

“Aloft there, aloft!” our jolly boatswain cries, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; “Look ahead, look astern, look aweather and alee, Look along down the coast of the High Barbaree.”

There’s nought upon the stern, there’s nought upon the lee, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; But there’s a lofty ship to windward, and she’s sailing fast and free, Sailing down along the coast of the High Barbaree.

“Oh, hail her, Oh, hail her,” our gallant captain cried, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; “Are you a man-o’-war or a privateer,” said he, “Cruising down along the coast of the High Barbaree.”

“Oh, I am not a man-o’-war nor privateer,” said he, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; “But I’m a salt-sea pirate a-looking for my fee, “Cruising down the coast of the High Barbaree.”

Oh, ’twas broadside to broadside a long time we lay, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; Until the Prince of Luther shot the pirate’s masts away, Cruising down along the coast of the High Barbaree.

“Oh, quarter, Oh, quarter,” those pirates then did cry, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; But the quarter that we gave them – we sunk them in the sea, Coming down along the coast of the High Barbaree.

SEADRIFT
See where she stands, on the wet sea-sands, Looking across the water: Wild is the night, but wilder still The face of the fisher's daughter.

What does she there, in the lightning's glare, What does she there, I wonder? What dread demon drags her forth In the night and wind and thunder?

Is it the ghost that haunts this coast?— The cruel waves mount higher, And the beacon pierces the stormy dark With its javelin of fire.

Beyond the light of the beacon bright A merchantman is tacking; The hoarse wind whistling through the shrouds, And the brittle topmasts cracking.

The sea it moans over dead men's bones, The sea it foams in anger; The curlews swoop through the resonant air With a warning cry of danger.

The star-fish clings to the sea-weed's rings In a vague, dumb sense of peril; And the spray, with its phantom-fingers, grasps At the mullein dry and sterile.

O, who is she that stands by the sea, In the lightning's glare, undaunted?— Seems this now like the coast of hell By one white spirit haunted!

The night drags by; and the breakers die Along the ragged ledges; The robin stirs in his drenchéd nest, The hawthorn blooms on the hedges.

In shimmering lines, through the dripping pines, The stealthy morn advances; And the heavy sea-fog straggles back Before those bristling lances.

Still she stands on the wet sea-sands; The morning breaks above her, And the corpse of a sailor gleams on the rocks— What if it were her lover?

SOMEDAY
When the world is warm
And the flowers are full in bloom
You'll come to be with me
And finally you may see
All that I can be for you
Someday
When the days are long
And the sun shines brightly in the sky
You'll look at me the way I look at you
And see me the way that I see you
A beautiful being to me
Someday
When the full moon shines
And reflects beautifully on the bay
You'll look into my eyes, and say you love me
And tell me all that you want to be
And see I'd do anything for you
Someday
When my dreams have been realized
And everything is right with the world
You'll see deep within my heart is you
And know there's nothing I won't do
And just the same, love me
Someday
When the earth and heaven are one
And we all walk together hand in hand
You'll have a place in your heart for me
But for now, it's only just a dream
Until you see how I care for you

SEA FEVER
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by, And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking, And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Lyrics from Super's Ready

Walking across the sitting-room, I turn the television off
Sitting beside you, I look into your eyes
As the sound of motorcars fades in the night time
I swear I saw your face change, it didn't seem quite right
And it's hello babe, with your guardian eyes so blue
Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true

Coming closer with our eyes, a distance falls around our bodies
Out in the garden, the moon seems very bright
Six saintly shrouded men move across the lawn slowly
The seventh walks in front with a cross held high in hand
And it's hey babe your supper's waiting for you
Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true?

I've been so far from here
Far from your warm arms
It's good to feel you again
It's been a long long time
Hasn't it?

And it's hey babe, with your guardian eyes so blue
Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true?
I've been so far from here, far from your loving arms
Now I'm back again
And babe, it's gonna work out fine
Can't you feel our souls ignite?
Shedding ever-changing colours
In the darkness of the fading night
Like the river joins the ocean
As the germ in a seed grows
We have finally been freed to get back home

CHIVALRY
Knights believed in the code of chivalry. They promised to defend the weak,
be courteous to all women, be loyal to their king, and serve God at all times.
Knights were expected to be humble before others, especially their superiors.
They were also expected to not "talk too much", they shouldn't boast.
The code of chivalry demanded that a knight give mercy to a vanquished enemy.
Chivalry is attached to conscience. Once developed, the two are inseparable.
Chivalry provides moral mandates that are not a burden,
but the right way to live and thrive and be a blessing to all around us.
In the end, chivalry, for all its beauty and benefits, is nothing special.
While it is each man's treasure, it deserves no credit or recognition.
Does a bird need adulation because it flies? Is water to be praised for being wet?
The completeness of chivalry is our natural state as men,
and brings its own reward of abundant life.

MY ART
My interests give me the inspiration for my paintings. History, nature, travel, the countryside and ancient Britain.
I like to explore ancient monuments like castles, stone circles, long barrows, hill forts and standing stones around the country.

Then there is my love of synthesizer/electronic music, listening to Tangerine Dream always puts me in the mood for painting.

Many of my early paintings were of strange alien landscapes and huge lumbering spaceships..
Drawing inspiration at the time from Sci-Fi and fantasy artists
like Tim White, Peter Jones, Jim Burns, Chris Foss. and Boris Vallejo.

I started a small publishing business a few years ago which kept me busy as well as my regular job. Subjects include Ghosts, Art, Nature, Children's and Churchill.
