About me:
My name is jannah collins. I would typically consider myself to be a simple individual, direct with my desires. However, when attempting to write an about me my mind draws a blank. Words of wit rush to the tips of my fingers as I type. Yet still, I find there are no words that could begin to describe the type of person that I really am. So maybe, the perception that I have of myself isn’t as simple as I originally thought. You be the judge.
I am one who loves a challenge. Life seems to be my greatest challenge and my most triumphant success. I say that life is something that everyone should try at least once. If I could wish for my life to be perfect it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for then life would no longer teach me anything, and I do value the gift of an education.
Life isn’t all about an education and one’s intellect. Much of life is about enjoyment and creativity. I find pleasure in expression on a canvas. Sometimes life can beat me down and crush my soul but art reminds me that that is part of living. So I stand up and paint. I see the beauty in individualism. It creates character. "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved." Helen Keller.
Character transcends one’s race, religion or gender. It is defined by their sincerity, honor, loyalty, trustworthiness and their actions. I see the men and woman of the military as being people with very strong senses of character. Their selfless courage is commendable. Seeing what they stand for inspired me to enlist in the United States Navy. I too support and defend with honor, courage and commitment. I take pride in my character, for it defines me.
One thing that couldn’t possibly define me is a generalization. I am a conservative republican that sees the importance of caring for our environment. I am an adrenaline junkie that is precautious about what I get into. I am a lover, not a fighter. I tend to think I’m right but I value people’s differences in opinions. Seldom in my life have I learned something from someone who always agreed with me.
I like to surround myself with people who challenge me intellectually, who are free spirited, honest and who too have a strong sense of character. I feel that my family and friends enrich my life, just as I strive to enrich theirs.
Since I was a young child I’ve wanted to be somebody. Now I understand that I should have been more specific. I dedicate my time to making my life a success on every level of the word. I now only hope that I will one day successfully educate and inspire, pursue and achieve and be happy with the life that I have lived. As of now, I am well on my way. “If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning” Mahatma Gandhi.
