Faintly_Bemused's Scoop
About me:
What, me? Well, there's not much to say really. I'm a pretty easy-going chap who goes through life with a vague smile on his face. How did life get so serious anyway? Lie back and enjoy it (grin). Friends tell me I'm fairly quiet but have a corny sense of humour. I couldn't possibly comment on that..
OK, I admit, I can be shy. Painfully shy at times. So if you see me acting aloof online I'm probably just plucking up courage to say hello. Help me out here! I've made some great friends in RLC and I want to make more :)
So what am I doing here? Hopefully having fun and exploring parts of myself I didn't know existed. No, not that part.......
Who I'd like to meet:
Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie - hey, so I'm a typical bloke. Most importantly I'd like to meet - you! So if you see a chap sitting in the corner with a faraway grin on his face please pop over and say hello :)
I've always wanted to meet my soulmate. The one person who makes you whole. The one person who becomes your sole reason for existence upon this planet. I gave up that search long ago but she didn't give up on me. She has found me and life is new. My soulmate, my love, my friend........

More About Faintly_Bemused
My Other Profile/Website Links:
Maybe later, when I'm a bit more comfortable here. Got to keep some things back...
Interests:
I'm an aviation buff, the older the aircraft the better. Weekends are spent going around airshows with a big lens taking lots of pics (and yes, they're pretty good). And if I can blag a flight, so much the better.
Sport - of course. I'm a Brit, but strangely have never been into football - you Yanks are welcome to Posh and Becks. Cricket, oh yes, but going on about that is not going to improve my rating lol.
Anything on 4 wheels, F1 (not so much nowadays) CART, Indy - and Nascar. Sorry, I'm a Jeff Gordon fan....
My Favorite Websites:
I'll get round to it.
Music:
..is how I make my living, and I have a deep love of classical music. How square is that? Jazz and country is cool, and Simon & Garfunkel got me through the teenage angst period. I still know the lyrics off by heart.
Sir Arnold Bax is now permanently installed as my favourite composer - and "Into the Twilight" my favourite work. For non-musical reasons as well as musical. One of you reading this will know why......
I love artistry, music played for music's sake. This can take the form of a skilful technical passage or a subtle variance of tone and shade. It can be incredibly sensual. The joy of music for me is that these aspects can turn up in the most unexpected places :)
So, that's what really turns me on. I find it in all sorts of music, classical, folk, Jazz, 60's Blues (a new discovery, and one I'm grateful to a new close friend for). There's so much new stuff to experience, and so little time....
So, my favourite music changes day by day to match state of mind, mood, whatever. Want to know how I'm feeling now? Listen on :)
Movies:
Hell yes, nothing better than a good movie. Well, almost :) Action films - I'll sit through any of those, comedy is great (Groundhog Day, Roxanne), but NOT American Pie! Sci-fi is a favourite as well. Sorry, but Serenity beats Star Wars hands down. Come on Joss, lets have a sequel!
But I have a soft centre too - American Beauty is a secret love of mine (Oh yes, I'd like to meet Mena Suvari too) and then we come to classics - all Capra's stuff is on my shelf. I also empathise with Elwood P. Dowd (grin).
My top ten list changes monthy - but The Shawshank Redemption (have you read Stephen King's short stories? By far his best writing) and Grand Prix will always stay there. All right, so the story in Grand Prix is a bit naff, but the photography has never been bettered - and all without CGI!
TV as well, don't forget that. Lots of good stuff out there. Which brings me to a pet HATE: series cancelled by the networks before they were given a fair chance. Those that come to mind are listed below. Got any additions, let me know!

Books:
Any crime novel is good by me. Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, Jeffrey Deaver, Martin Cruz Smith..... Thrillers as well, I was a great fan of Tom Clancy and Craig Thomas.
Classics are old friends. I enjoy re-reading Dickens and Austen from time to time.
You want a recommendation? See if you can find the Pop Larkin books by H.E Bates. And ANYTHING by Nevil Shute. A bit dated, but "Round the Bend" is one of the best novels I've read. And yes, I did cry at the end.......
