About me:
Just your average mid-40's guy who enjoys meeting others for conversation and new experiences. I have a post-graduate background in the sciences and teach. I also have a strong interest in the arts. Both are necessary to live life to the fullest.
If you're curious about how I look, I've tried to get my avatar close to my real life appearance. For people who like to know numbers.... My age is in my profile. I am 6'2"/186 cm, 205 lbs/93 kg, 46"/117 cm chest, 35"/89 cm waist. I have a large frame with broad shoulders and a naturally athletic build that is more suited to hefting things than moving swiftly. That being said, I swim and run to maintain health.
I have brown hair and eyes (my avi has blue eyes... he looks better that way). My head is shaved bald since I have started to turn grey and I've lost more hair that I like to admit. I have a lot of thick body hair nearly everywhere else. My back is shaved and chest is trimmed.
All things considered, I'm most accurately put into the daddy bear/wolf category for gay men. I have a masculine appearance and a gentle soul that can have a wicked sense of humor in the right circumstances.
Who I'd like to meet:
I have been happily in a relationship since late 2005 and want to be in it forever. While my partner and I may not marry in our state at the moment, my profile relationship status accurately represents our commitment to each other and intentions for a long life together.
I enjoy making friends here and hearing about other people's hopes and interests. RLC is a great place to have fun and indulge fantasy and learn about new things. In the end, though, we all log off RLC and go back to real life. :-)

Interests:
I have many different interests.
I enjoy being active. I swim and walk/run quite a bit. I swim 3-4 times a week for 1-5 miles each time. I run/walk about 20-25 miles per week.
I use exercise for weight control. I am pleased that I have lost about 30 pounds over the last 4 years. Aside from the middle-aged aches and pains, I feel better than I can remember. For additional motivation, I am a member of a swim team and enter competitions. I hope to swim in the 2014 gay games. I am currently training to do the Alcatraz Swim next summer.
I also enjoy singing and take voice lessons. My voice is best suited for opera. I am a deep-dark-roiling bass. For country music fans, think Josh Turner.
I support the local arts in the form of art galleries, theater and musical performance. I believe art should be about participation, but has unfortunately slipped into being more of a spectator sport in our society.

I enjoy listening to most types of music - 70's, 80's, Pop, Opera, Classical, and Broadway. Because I have a little vocal training, I appreciate a well-developed voice in most any genre.
I enjoy participating in the Karaoke events that a held here in RLC. My favorite one is Concert in the Park. It's a great support atmosphere for all talent ranges and abilities.
Movies:
Science Fiction / Fantasy.
Books:
I enjoy reading books that are about Science and Science/Society. This is an important part of my professional life.
Horror/Suspense are also a favorite genre.
Lately, I've enjoyed the challenge of reading German novels. I am incredibly slow, but I get there.
