Music:
Rock and roll! And club remixes! And New Wave. And Punk! And Jazz! I even listen to a little hip hop and R&B when the mood hits me. You can find a little bit of everything in my collection but a word of warning, at any given time I may break out my Beethoven box set and subject you to any 1 of his 9 symphonies. He's the best.
And then there's Tila. She's no Beethoven but you know, she's got something that just keeps me interested. See if you can figure it out.
Movies:
I like the old black and white movies, especially the Film Noir period. And you can't go wrong with Hitchcock either. Rear Window is one of my favorites, so is Psycho. I like action movies but only if they're done well. Same with martial arts films. Both genre have a whole lot of shit in them so you have to wade through that to get to the good stuff. When it comes to drama, I prefer the historical kind to the usual, every day stuff but a good movie is a good movie regardless of when it's set. I'm also very fond of foreign films, especially from Japan and Europe. They tend to have plot twists we don't use often, if ever here in the US and are much harder to predict. It goes without saying that I like sci-fi movies but there again, they have to be well done.
Books:
Classics like The Three Musketeers and Paradise Lost, science fiction by Orson Scott Card, William Gibson, and guys like Heinlein and Azimov. Some horror, though I'm partial to werewolf and ghost stories and really weird monsters like you'd find in H. P. Lovecraft or some of the Japanese horror novels like The Ring or Ju-on or Parasite Eve. I've read everything by Haruki Murakami and Miyuki Miyabe that's been translated into English and I just can't wait for more to come from those two. I've been enjoying Jeff Lindsay's Dexter novels too. Of course, throw in the usual suspects, Dune, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings (though I liked The Hobbit more than the others).
