Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone who's prepared to treat me with a modicum of respect - a polite answer to a polite question is always better than a stony silence, and if I'm out of line, tell me.

Music:
I cannot get my head around modern dance music or rap, which I still maintain is spelt with a silent "c", but other than that I can listen to pretty much anything.
Lifelong fan of Yes and Genesis and I do like a track that's good enough to sustain being more than 10 minutes long, but also particularly love female vocalists like Holly Cole, Sarah Mclachlan, Mary Black, Butterfly Boucher and particularly the incredibly talented Fiona Apple.
Also have an interest in some folk music, particularly Show of Hands.

Books:
Having slogged my way through Sherrilyn Kenyon's interminable Acheron, which could have been a half decent read if it had had the 400 pages of boring repetition removed from the start, I am back with quality Si-Fi in the shape of a re-read of Alastair Reynolds' Chasm City
I will happily read most sc-fi or fantasy authors but particular favourites are Guy Gavriel Kay, Alastair Reynolds, Sheri S. Tepper and Peter F. Hamilton as well as older masters like J.R.R. Tolkein, Philip K. Dick and Alfred Bester. Will also read the odd biography here and there as well if the subject is an interesting one.
But the best books I have read remain Dam Simmons' "Hyperion" cantos.
